On Curiosity

with Kiki Van Eijk

21 °C W 12 KM/H

She is an accomplished Dutch designer who graduated from the Design Academy Eindhoven in 2000. Much of her work explores the humanizing qualities of imperfection, but Kiki is also a fount of knowledge on the state of design in the Netherlands today.

We approached Kiki van Eijk about her acclaimed work with Cor Unum for our ceramics film. And, because she is incredibly humble and gracious, she was happy to sit down with us.

In this short interview, we asked her to speak to how she remains curious and unrestrained in her project, and how the restrictions of manufacturers can limit progress.

FINISHED CANDLE HOLDER FROM HER SOFT COLLECTION

She thinks in terms of solutions, rather than constraints, and that designers can innovate and create the means to complete even the most impossible project. Curiousity always matters more than the constraints of the knowledge we already have.
