TEXEL, NETHERLANDS

A DAY IN TEXEL

15 °C NE 14 KM/H

We drove from Leeuwarden, along the 32 kilometre Afsluitdijk (the longest dyke in the world), boarded the ferry, and finally arrived in the tiny port town of Oudeschild.

Texel is the southernmost island of the chain of islands along the north coast of the Netherlands. The island has a long history; ships once left its ports for the Dutch East and West Indies during the Dutch Golden Age until the end of the 19th century.

Our 6th interview was scheduled on the island, but it was also just a day to enjoy ocean waves and dunes with some food and local beer.

After a pleasant interview with Rebecca Geskus, and a visit to a local sheep farm, we spent the rest of our day out by the sea.

SUNSET FROM THE FERRY

Soft sand, cool sea water, tall grass, and blue skies along the dunes were there to greet us. The sunset was breathtaking.
